YAM

Yet another meme (this one courtesy of Yarn in my Pocket)

  • Grab the nearest book.
  • Open the book to page 56.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
  • Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST

My sentence is … (drum roll please)

“They pursued him up the M4 that night until he crashed his car by junction twelve.”

Heh. Much more exciting than “Weave in loose ends.

And in case you’re wondering, my sentence is from The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde.

The Flickr Game

I saw this fun little game on The Shetland Trader blog and had to try it out for myself.

Here’s how it’s done:

a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search.
b. Using only the first page, pick an image.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into fd’s mosaic maker.
Flickr Mosaic

Christkindlmarkt

I was very excited today to learn that Sacramento has a Christkindlmarkt and even more excited to learn that it will be held while my mum is visiting!

For whatever reason, Marge and I were talking about hot dogs on the way to book club this morning and, after hearing me wax on about the European weiners we used to buy in Victoria and Vancouver, suggested that we head over to Morant’s after book club. Not only did I get my Euro weiners (along with some Münchner Weißwürste and some Nürnberger Bratwürste) but I also saw a sign for a Christkindlmarkt on December 6 & 7th at the Sacramento Turn Verein.

One day, I want to go to the Köln Christkindlmarkt but, until then, this will do…

What I’m missing

In more ways than one…

Out the kitchen window

Wayde’s visiting his family up north right now and took this photo out of his mum and dad’s kitchen window yesterday morning. It’s their first snow of the season and isn’t it pretty? Apparently, there was a 12-point buck wandering around in the front yard, enjoying the morning, too.

November already?

It’s hard to believe we’re two days into November. This month brought our first “winter” storm yesterday. We had a lot of rain (and that’s “a lot” by Vancouver standards!) but the temperature was relatively warm.

Now’s the time to review my October goals and see where I ended up. Of all those items, everything was either done or cancelled except for these two things:

  • Sew a circular needle case from fat quarters.
  • Make bread at least once.

I’ll leave them on the plate for November and add the following:

  • Make fleece sweaters.
Since I’ve got the pattern finalised and I’ve got scads of fleece remnants stashed around the house, I’d like to make some fleece sweaters as prizes for this month’s race meet.
  • Christmas shopping!
I’d really like to be prepared this year. I used to be prepared. What happened?
  • Sock knitting.
My latest adventure into the world of knitting involves socks and I’m having fun…
