About Racing-L

Racing-L is a mailing list for the discussion of both amateur and professional dog racing. Owners, trainers, and breeders of all breeds of race dogs are welcome to participate.

Topics for discussion include:

* training and conditioning
* injuries and treatments
* breeding
* diet and feeding

Racing-L is not a moderated list; however, list participants are expected to at least try to stay on-topic. Although the listowners prefer not to moderate the list, we do reserve the right to remove or restrict posting privileges of any subscriber.

While the listowners will make every attempt to work through moderation issues with individual posters, it is important that they have a mechanism to defend the functioning of the mailing list. To this end, the listowners are empowered to configure software to ban subscription by or auto-reject all articles from any poster who is perceived as attacking the functioning of the list. This is an extreme step, and shall only be taken under the following exceptional circumstances:

* When there is clear evidence that a spew, flood, mailbombing or other such attack is occurring. In this case, action shall be taken as quickly as possible to eliminate the threat to the list.
* When a poster has shown oft-repeated and exceptionally stubborn unwillingness to abide by the charter of the mailing list.

A Few Words About Netiquette and Racing-L

* Articles that exceed the bounds of common courtesy -- e.g., personal attacks against other posters -- are never acceptable, no matter what the context of the article.
* Please remember that not all subscribers may be native English speakers and refrain from making comments regarding spelling, grammar, and other language usage differences.
* Do not over- or under-quote messages to which you are replying. Leave enough of the original message so that your context is clear but trim it enough that you won't be including a lot of extraneous text. This is especially important for those people who receive the list in digest format.
* Do not send attachments to the list. If you'd like to share your photos or other information, please post them on a web server and send a link.
* Please, no HTML email. Although major email clients allow people to send HTML email, this is still frowned upon by the vast majority of groups. HTML is for the World Wide Web, not email. Make your Web page with it, but leave it out of email. In any case, many mail clients cannot read HTML and even those that can will often have that facility turned off by their users. So please post in text only.

What Not To Do on Racing-L

* The focus of Racing-L is dog racing. Posters campaigning against the sport in any manner are not welcome and will be removed.

No corporate advertising! Subscribing to the list for the specific purpose of advertising is not allowed; posting privileges may be suspended.
